WASHINGTON, April 2, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ -- On Thursday, April 3, 2025, United States Southern Cameroonian Christians will descend on Capitol Hill to raise awareness on the current humanitarian crisis in Southern Cameroons.
Southern Cameroons aka Ambazonia refers to the lands and territorial waters and air space in the Gulf of Guinea pertaining to the former British Southern Cameroons, whose boundaries are set out and internationally recognized in the United Nations Trusteeship Agreement of December 13, 1946, and in the League of Nations British Mandate of July 20, 1922, and protected under Article 4(b) of the African Union Constitutive Act.
Ambazonia is neither part of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea nor The Republic of Cameroon as obtained at their independence on January 1, 1960.
"Southern Cameroonian Christians are being tortured by an oppressive government and in the Northern tip by the terrorist group Boko Haram," stated Rev. Dr. Victor Mbah.
"We are at a critical point in fighting for a free Ambazonia, the women and children are suffering and the only way to secure their future, is for the United States to fully support and acknowledge the independence that was granted to the Southern Cameroonian people by Britain and recognized by the United States, the United Nation and the African Union," said Dr. Emmanuel Tita, "furthermore as United States citizen, we must advocate for the voiceless."
