Black Statement on DC's Obamacare Grant to Planned Parenthood

Contact: Tom Flanagin, 202-225-4231

WASHINGTON, Aug. 15, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) issued the following statement on the news that Washington, D.C.'s Health Benefit Exchange Authority Executive Board awarded a $375,000 grant to Planned Parenthood for their assistance with enrollment in Obamacare:

"The federal funding of abortion providers like Planned Parenthood is a serious problem in our country, and one that I have been fighting since I arrived in Congress. This grant announcement is a sad reminder that despite assurances from the President when the law was passed, Obamacare will in fact give tax payer money to abortion providers. I am glad that the GAO recently agreed to my request to investigate the funding of Planned Parenthood and other abortion services providers. I hope that the findings of this investigation will help mobilize the support necessary to finally put an end to the federal funding of these groups once and for all."
