SAN FRANCISCO, March 22, 2022 /Standard Newswire/ -- Pope Francis has invited all bishops, priests, and Catholics all over the world to join him in consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, March 25, 2022. Russia has been consecrated to Mary before, as per the specific request of Our Lady at the Marian apparitions at Fatima in Portugal. Yet misconceptions persist in this act of consecration: Wasn't Russia already consecrated to Mary? Did previous popes not follow Our Lady's direction in consecrating Russia to Mary? What did the last surviving Fatima visionary, Sr. Lucia, say about previous consecrations to Mary?
Paul Senz answers these and many other questions about the Marian apparitions of Fatima in his book, FATIMA: 100 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE MARIAN APPARITIONS (Ignatius Press 2020), which was released in conjunction with the feature film "Fatima" in 2020.
Senz, who has his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Portland, utilizes a question-and-answer format to explore the context of these apparitions that occurred in Fatima, why they were so engrossing at the time, what they have meant to the Church and the world in the century since they happened, and why the requests of Our Lady are so important today, including the consecration to Russia.
"A clear, concise guide, and a much-needed resource that unpacks the history, message and meaning of Our Lady of Fatima for people today," said Edward Sri, Ph.D., author of Rethinking Mary in the New Testament, and Marian expert himself. "Paul Senz has done the Church a great service by writing this book."
Paul Senz is available to discuss:
- Why this consecration is important
- How the consecration will work on March 25th, the Solemnity of the Annunciation
- The circumstances surrounding the previous consecrations and what Our Lady asked during the apparitions of Fatima
- What Sr. Lucia said about the specific consecration of Pope John Paul II.
