MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 7 /Standard Newswire/ -- On September 20, believers around the world will embark on a four-week journey led by World Gospel Mission (WGM) to pray for compassionate needs in 26 areas of the world.
"This is the third year we've used an issue of The Call to entirely focus on prayer," said Tim Rickel, Vice President of Communication at WGM, a nondenominational missionary-sending organization. "This is a great chance for God's people to corporately pray for some of the urgent human needs in our world."
During the four-week challenge, from September 20 to October 15, WGM invites readers to join other believers each day to pray for the area of the world designated on that day. Participants can call 1-800-426-0846 at any time every day to be led in prayer by a WGM staff member, and special podcasts are available that give extra insight into each area highlighted in the magazine. All content and instructions are available online at wgm.org/call.
"These four weeks of concentrated prayer aren't us talking to God, saying 'God, fix this,'" said Rickel. "It's recognizing that the only way we can effectively pursue the Great Commission is by acknowledging our complete dependence on God."
The third annual Concert of Prayer issue of The Call is concentrating on compassionate, or humanitarian, needs in each area of the world in which WGM works. These needs range from the plight of street children in Bolivia to depression in Hungary to unemployment in Ukraine.
The Call is a bimonthly magazine and has been in publication since 1919. Readers can also find The Call on Facebook through The Call Readers group. WGM offers a free one-year subscription to anyone wishing to learn more about leading a missions-active life.
