DENVER, Nov. 20, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- Renovaré USA is delighted to announce James Catford as its new board chair beginning January 1, 2020. This planned succession comes as Renovaré celebrates over 30 years of Christian spiritual formation work.
A long-time board member and advisor, Catford brings to the organization his extensive leadership experience in the areas of nonprofit, higher education, and publishing—including senior leadership roles or board appointments with HarperCollins, Bible Society (UK), Renovaré Britain and Ireland, Apprentice Institute at Friends University, Amity Printing Company in China (the largest producer of Bibles in the world), and the Martin Institute and Dallas Willard Research Center at Westmont College.
"It's hard to overstate the impact Richard Foster and Renovaré has had on my life with God. I'm honored to serve Renovaré in this capacity," Catford said. "The current board chair Jonathan Bailey helped navigate the organization through transition into a place of flourishing. The current staff and board have the right heart and skills to continue providing followers of Jesus with practical ways to grow spiritually. With thriving initiatives like the Renovaré Institute, the Book Club, and the new Fellowship of the Burning Heart, we're poised for growth—not for the sake of growth, but for the sake of serving the body of Christ better. I look forward to what God has in store for Renovaré."
Jonathan Bailey, who has served as chair since 2014 will remain on the board and is excited about this new chapter for the organization. "James brings a wealth of leadership experience, but more than that he is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, has fortitude and courage, and he loves people well. There is no one I'd rather have as the new board chair."
Renovaré president Chris Hall also fully supports the move. "James has been an invaluable part of the Renovaré family for years and I couldn't be more pleased to have him in this role."
Others voicing their support include Renovaré founder Richard J. Foster: "When Renovaré Britain and Ireland launched in 2002, James was the person I asked to chair their board. And he's the person I recommend now to chair Renovaré USA." Current vice-chair Richella Parham adds: "It will be a delight to co-labor with James in this work we're both passionate about."
