WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- 27 national pro-life organizations call for House Speaker Johnson and pro-life members of Congress to protect the pregnancy resource movement from attacks.
In a hand delivered letter to Speaker Johnson's office, the groups warned of the dangers Kamala Harris and Governor Walz present to these life-affirming women's medical clinics and centers.
The letter says in part: "Speaker Johnson, it is critical in a post-Roe America we offer women facing unexpected pregnancies professional medical care, tangible resources, practical and emotional support, and women's wellness care.
"Tragically, Vice-President Harris has chosen to attack these women-centric life-affirming centers. As California's Attorney General, she investigated and harassed pregnancy resource centers and spearheaded legislation that would require them to refer clients for abortions."
The letter warns: "It is clear, if Kamala Harris became President, her Administration would do all in their power to close or restrict pregnancy resource centers and life-affirming clinics."
The groups then ask, "Speaker Johnson we are asking for you, and pro-life members of Congress, to ensure no anti-woman federal legislation would be passed which restricts or attempts to shut down pregnancy resource centers and life-affirming women's clinics."

Brandi Swindell, Founder and CEO of Stanton Public Policy Center, comments:
"Speaker Johnson, it is critical in a post-Roe America we offer women facing unexpected pregnancies professional medical care, tangible resources, practical and emotional support, and women's wellness care.
"Every woman who walks through the doors of these life-affirming centers and clinics is treated with dignity and equality regardless of their race, political views, religion, educational background or their economic situation.
"Speaker Johnson, we are calling for your leadership and all pro-life members of Congress, to ensure these life-affirming women's centers are protected from the attacks of Vice-President Harris and Governor Walz.
"Regardless of one's position on abortion, it is critical our nation stands with women who are facing unexpected pregnancies as we offer true choices and support."
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Chief Strategy Officer for Stanton Public Policy Center, adds:
"In 2022, pregnancy resource centers and life-affirming women's medical clinics in the United States provided nearly $367.9 million worth of services and material goods to16 million women. We are ready to meet the challenge to make sure every woman facing an unexpected pregnancy in a post-Roe America will have access to life-affirming quality medical care, compassionate resources, tangible support and hope.
"It is unconscionable and anti-woman for Vice-President Harris and Governor Walz to attempt to close or restrict these life-affirming women's medical clinics and the pregnancy resource movement.
"We respectfully ask that as Speaker of the House, you do all within your power to protect the pregnancy resource movement from these anti-woman attacks from Kamala Harris and Governor Walz."
