LAKEWOOD, New Jersey, Nov. 2 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Orthodox Jewish Rabbis and activist of Lakewood New Jersey have been informed by The New Jersey Family Policy Council and others of the danger to our faith and community. The story of the arrest in Massachusetts of David Porter, a father, who only wanted to protect his child from wrongly, being informed that homosexuality is moral and acceptable, has reached the ears of many Rabbis. We are aware that the New Jersey Legislature and Governor Jon Corzine intend to redefine marriage.
The Rabbis have stated from the Bible the cause of the flood was such immorality. The Rabbi of Madison's Great Synagogue Rabbi Shmuel Blech explained to the politicians including Jon Corzine who came to Lakewood recently "Tolerance as a form of legislation becomes an endorsement. You do not have the right to challenge and redefine what a family is." Rabbi Y. Philip principal of a large Lakewood girl's school stated that "faith cannot be sold for money."
The Orthodox Jewish community of Lakewood is extremely concerned that the threat by the New Jersey legislature, Governor Jon Corzine and State Senator Loretta Weinberg to redefine marriage will jeopardize our ability to teach our children, as G-d demands. Governor Corzine stated to a meeting of the Rabbis of the Lakewood community that religions would be exempt. What Corzine failed to mention is that exemption only extends inside the houses of worship. Individuals whose faith requires them to uphold G-ds moral law in hiring, educating their children and other aspects of life, would subject them to prosecution by standing for what is morally right and just, as protected by the First Amendment.
The Orthodox Jewish community of Lakewood, urges everyone of faith, who believes G-d gives parents the right to raise, educate and inculcate their children, to speak up and respond to the politicians demanding they defend the family not redefine the family. No politician should hide their evil agenda and not speak the truth to their constituents concerning the full implications and reach of the laws they want to enact.
