KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 20, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by George Raudenbush, he is available for comment:
I don’t know how much you know of the Greg Lance murder case but I can tell you that based upon the evidence presented to the court on July 2, 2024, at a hearing on a Petition for Writ of Error Coram Nobis filed by The Tennessee Innocence Project and the law firm of Bass, Berry and Sims, Greg Lance, a Conservative Christian, is INNOCENT! See https://www.tninnocence.org/greg-lance.
In 2000, Greg Lance was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in Cookeville, Tennessee. Greg has always maintained his innocence and ongoing efforts continue to prove Greg’s innocence.
On November 16, 2022, a hearing was held on Greg's motions for both DNA and fingerprint testing. The court granted both motions. Through forensic testing the experts determined that neither the fingerprints nor the DNA evidence belonged to Greg.
On July 2, 2024, Judge Don Ash held a hearing on Greg’s Petition for Writ of Error Coram Nobis which, if granted, would have provided Greg with a new trial. On October 31, 2024, Judge Ash denied Greg’s petition.
At the July 2024 hearing, Greg’s attorneys presented not only the results of the forensic testing but also testimony of two witnesses, Mitchell Horn (Sam’s son), and Derrick Helms (Sam’s best friend), who testified that Sam admitted to them that he had in fact committed the murders. Another witness at the July hearing, Daron Dunn, testified that he was told by Mike Horn, Sam’s nephew, that Sam had asked him to dispose of the gun. Even in light of all of this new evidence proving that Greg did not commit the murders, Judge Ash still denied Greg’s petition.

Rabia Chaudry, Colin Miller and Susan Simpson conducted a thorough review of everything in Greg’s case. Following the podcast, Greg’s case was reviewed and aired by the television show It Couldn't Happen Here, starring Hilarie Burton Morgan.
