WASHINGTON, May 31, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ -- U.S. Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement today regarding H.R. 1954, a bill that would increase the debt ceiling without imposing fundamental spending reform:
"With a $14 trillion national debt, the American people are fed up and want us to change the way Washington spends the people’s money. Because I cannot support increasing the debt ceiling without real and meaningful spending reductions and reforms, I will not support H.R. 1954.
"To get the American people back to work, we need to embrace policies that will promote growth and investment, but everything starts with putting our fiscal house in order."
