FDR's D-Day Landing Prayer Inclusion at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Receives Congressional Hearing

WASHINGTON, Nov. 3, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ -- Honoring those brave men and women who served our country in WWII, Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio's 6th District introduced legislation in May that will place FDR's D-Day Landing Prayer at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. - H.R. 2070.

Today, the Congressional Natural Resources Committee heard testimony in support of H.R. 2070, The D-Day Landing Prayer Project. U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, Poppy Fowler, who served on the U.S.S. Essex as a Navy aviator, presented testimony in support of the bill.

Sixty-seven years ago, on the morning of June 6, 1944, as Allied forces were landing on the beaches in Normandy, President Roosevelt went to the airwaves and prayed with our nation for God's blessing and protection upon our brave fighting men. He prayed, "Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity...."
