Operation Rescue vows to fight any nominee that will uphold wrongly-decided Roe v. Wade
Operation Rescue President Troy Newman makes the following statement in response to Justice Souter's pending retirement:
"Operation Rescue will actively oppose any nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court that will disregard the lives of the pre-born and uphold the wrongly-decided case of Roe v. Wade.
"Obama received greater than expected opposition to his nomination of extremist pro-abort Kathleen Sebelius to HHS. He can only expect that opposition will continue to grow if he has the poor sense to appoint a justice that will promote abortion from the bench.
"Obama has been spanked over the past 100 days on the issue of abortion. There has been a growing grassroots opposition to his invitation to speak at Notre Dame, along with the Sebelius fiasco. On Wednesday he backed away from the Freedom of Choice Act, something he promised to sign as his first act as president, saying it was 'not the highest legislative priority.'
"Obama is vulnerable on the matter of abortion and will continue to be so. Just yesterday, a Pew Poll showed that since August, support for abortion in our country decreased by an amazing eight percent. Obama may find it harder than he thinks to push through a radical pro-abortion activist to the nation's highest court, as he has promised to abortion groups like Planned Parenthood during the campaign."
