New Study Details How Christian Communities Respond to Persecution

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Thursday evening, Family Research Council's Travis Weber, Director of the Center for Religious Liberty, will attend the Under Caesar's Sword conference, an international gathering examining the Christian response to worldwide persecution. A years-long study conducted by the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University will be released detailing how Christian communities around the world respond when persecuted and their religious freedom is violated. Do they flee? Do they stay put? In what other ways do they respond?

"While the refugee numbers have dominated the news, very little research has been conducted on how these mounting tragedies are impacting persecuted Christians — until now," noted Travis Weber, Family Research Council's Director of the Center for Religious Liberty. "The results are sure to be interesting at a time when religious freedom continues to be violated for many worldwide and there is much debate about the very public issue of how to respond to atrocities against Christians in the Middle East. Moreover, beyond policy and politics, there are spiritual implications of the study's results — will it show that God is building his church despite the horrors of persecution?" asked Weber.

The conference is a joint effort of the Center for Civil and Human Rights at the University of Notre Dame and the Religious Freedom Project at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University.
