DETROIT, March 4, 2020 /Standard Newswire/ -- When God told Robert Johns to "tell the nations son," the words would be all the inspiration needed to write his second novel.
"I knew exactly what [God] was talking about and I thought the best way to tell the nations was to write a book," Johns, a Detroit native, said.
"Lighting Up the Dark Places" is the second book by Robert Johns.
The Ferris State University graduate previously published "Lesson Learned: A Guide to Successfully Mastering Your College Experience." The self-help book was written to be a roadmap for new students navigating collegiate life.
Johns, who mentors youth through his Young Men of Vision program, said the book has helped him come to grips with his own childhood trauma.
"...while I didn't think it affected me, it turned out to be the root of my deepest and darkest shortcomings," Johns said.
He said he hopes his book inspires every reader to be transparent in sharing their stories, no matter how painful.
"By sharing my story, I hope that the readers will seek God and his plan for their lives for themselves and be freed by his Power from any trauma (past or present), or shortcomings that may have them bound," Johns said.
Johns said he plans to co-author his next book with his wife, Kiara Johns. He added the goal is to illustrate how fulfilling life can be when one chooses to follow the perfect will of God. "Lighting Up the Dark Places" can be purchased at www.rjjohns.com and www.amazon.com.
