PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 25, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Pro-Life Coalition of Pa., and its affiliates, are conducting a Public Witness, on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 4:30-6:00 PM against the presentation of the Liberty Medal to former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy at 5:00 PM in the Constitution Center in center-city Philadelphia, which is on Arch Street between 5th and 6th Streets.
Mike McMonagle, the President of the Coalition, explained the reason for this protest.
"On June 28, 1992, Justice Kennedy cast the decisive vote in Casey v. Planned Parenthood to continue Roe v. Wade's 'Constitutional right to abortion' by transferring this 'right' to the 14th Amendment's Right to Liberty. Kennedy justified this transfer with the bizarre and deadly reasoning, 'At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence...' which, when applied, simply means might makes right.
"If Justice Kennedy had been faithful to his original vote in Casey to revise Roe v. Wade, many States, including Pennsylvania, would have significantly expanded legal protections for mothers and children from abortion. Thus, Kennedy's Casey decision has resulted in the deaths of millions of children."
McMonagle concluded, "Justice Kennedy deserves the License Medal not the Liberty Medal."
