GARLAND, Texas, Oct. 31, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- In advance of one of our nation's most crucial U.S. presidential elections, a coalition of government and ministry leaders will humble themselves in united prayer to ask God to heal a nation many consider on the wrong track.
A recent Gallup survey reports 75% of Americans are dissatisfied with the direction of our country.
"We all know that our nation is bitterly divided," said Bunni Pounds, founder of faith-based civic engagement group Christians Engaged (www.christiansengaged.org) who, along with Craig Deroche, CEO of Family Policy Alliance Foundation, the pro-family, pro-life advocacy group (www.familypolicyalliance.com), is on a mission to activate 1 million Christian voters not only for this election but elections into the future.
"Only a return to God can heal our country and that is what we are praying for," they said.
Organizers invite thousands of people of faith to pray for the Body of Christ to awaken and for crucial issues facing our families and nation, including the protection of life, religious liberty, educational freedom, parental rights, and free speech.
"We're believing for an awakening that will compel Christians to show up at the polls and change the trajectory of our nation," said Pounds, who will emcee the Nationwide Prayer Call.
There are an estimated 32 million churchgoing Christians who might not show up to vote on election day, Nov. 5, according to recent research released by George Barna at Arizona Christian University.
On the ballot are candidates to elect the 47th president of the United States, 33 U.S. Senators, 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and many state and local officials.
Christians Could 'Change Nation's Course'
"If everyone turns out to vote, Christians could easily change the course of our nation," DeRoche said.
Participants in the online prayer event will include Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives; Dr. Jack Graham, Senior Pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church; Kelly Shackelford, CEO of First Liberty Institute; Dr. Michael Brown, author and host of The Line of Fire radio show; and Cathy McMorris Rodgers, U.S. Representative for Washington's 5th congressional district, among many other leaders listed here.
