Teens Need to Get Off the Fence, New Comedy Film Says

Contact: Chris Staron, 216-389-0562

MEDINA, Ohio, April 28 /Standard Newswire/ -- Filmmaker Chris Staron (26) believes that there is a greater emphasis needed on the gospel when working with teenagers. "I have been volunteering with teens for several years now," says Chris. "The organization we volunteer with used to spend a lot more time on issues like abstinence, loving your neighbor, and staying out of trouble. These are great topics, but they will only hide the symptoms. They will not cure the disease."

Chris and his twin brother Nick have discovered that many of the young people in their group are "sitting on the fence" and get comfortable there. "We have a lot of posers," said Nick. "They come in cleaned up and ready to participate, but they are not really saved." They see this as a nation-wide problem, not just something limited to their group.

With this in mind the Staron brothers, the filmmakers behind BETWEEN THE WALLS and PINT SIZE PARABLES, set out to create a resource that would nudge young people "off the fence". Now they are about to release their feature-length comedy BRINGING UP BOBBY to DVD. "The desire to make this film came straight from working with these teens," says Chris. "So many of them change their religious beliefs as often as they change their Facebook status. In the film we wanted to not only show how silly and dangerous that is, but also how important it is to find your identity only in Christ. It's not about wearing a box on your head to shut out the world. Instead, our faith is the filter through which we see everything in life."

BRINGING UP BOBBY stars Marc Thompson (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, POKEMON), Jhey Castles (THE VISITATION), and newcomer Alex Hinsky in a new evangelistic comedy that can be enjoyed by the whole family. When the Wyler family gathers together to haggle over their parent's will, younger brother Bobby is challenged to figure out who he is and where he stands with God.

The 92-minute film will be released in stores on DVD May 19th and is currently available for church screenings. Members of the press and church leaders can preview several minutes of the film for free at www.bringingupbobby.com.  Once there you can also download graphics, press kits, and more.
