WASHINGTON, June 27, 2022 /Standard Newswire/ -- Dr. Linzey has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of military hymn writing, authorship, acting, filming, and recording. Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present James F. Linzey, DD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Linzey celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his fields. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Driven by a calling from God to lend his services to a myriad of industries, including serving underprivileged communities, James F. Linzey has understood from a formative age that everyone possesses gifts beyond their imagination. He has emphasized that everyone can reach their full potential by eliminating what is often a deeply-ingrained belief that there may be only a singular scope of life. In turn, these individuals can harness their abilities to their fullest potential; Dr. Linzey is one such individual. As an acclaimed chaplain, educator, public speaker, author, recording artist, military officer, real estate investor and actor, Dr. Linzey has channeled his multitude of abilities to enhance society.
At the inception of his career, Dr. Linzey served as a youth pastor for the First Assembly of God in Huntington Park, California, in 1979. He eventually taught for the Los Angeles Unified School District and, concurrently received a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force later in the United States Army. Serving his country dutifully over the course of nearly two and a half decades, he thrived as a chaplain in the military sector. Dr. Linzey was first commissioned as a first lieutenant in the Air Force in 1985 and advanced to the rank of captain in 1989. Thereafter, he was commissioned as a captain in the Army in 1998, ultimately achieving the rank of major in 2004 and retired from the Army in 2009. Most notably, Dr. Linzey was recognized as a lieutenant colonel in 2020 through the United States Volunteers-Joint Services Command, an organization recognized by the Department of Defense.
As his career progressed, Dr. Linzey was appointed as the command chaplain for Operation Noble Eagle II of the Southwest Region under the Department of Homeland Security in 2002, where he served at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for one year. For the following year until 2004, he served as the supervising chaplain for Operation Iraqi Freedom II, at the largest mobilization and demobilization mission in the continental United States, at Fort Bliss in Texas. Two years later, Dr. Linzey was requested to serve as the first full-time chaplain for the Leader's Training Course under the U.S. Army Cadet Command at Fort Knox in Kentucky. Impressively, Dr. Linzey was commissioned to write the institutional prayer during this time, which is one of only four official institutional American military prayers to be written to the present day. He was bestowed with numerous military decorations for his service in the Air Force and Army.
While pursuing his vocational path, Dr. Linzey attended Vanguard University of Southern California, at which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical studies with an emphasis in religion, in 1979. He followed this accomplishment when he received a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in 1983, and was subsequently ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention.
Outside of his primary career in theology and military service, Dr. Linzey has equally lent his time to the arts as a best-selling author, actor and recording artist. Penning the books "Moral Leadership," "The Holy Spirit" and "A Divine Appointment in Washington, DC," he appeared in the major motion picture "Iniquity" with actress Verna May Linzey, his mother, in 2012. He also sang harmony and backup vocals for Verna Linzey, with the Triumphant Quartet and the trio, Sisters, in the award-winning song "The Rose" by Bette Midler, which appeared on the film's soundtrack. Likewise, Dr. Linzey was a finalist in the Dove Awards' "Special Event Album of the Year" in 1996 for his co-authorship and recording of the song "A Heart of Love," which appeared on the album, "When the World Turns to God."
As a testament to his success, Dr. Linzey received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree at Kingsway Theological Seminary for his work in religious services. Additionally, due to his work as the chief editor of the Modern English Version Bible translation, he earned the Best-Selling Author Award from National Critics' Choice in 2015. With respect to his musical endeavors, Dr. Linzey was credited with singing backup vocals on the album "Oh Blessed Jesus" by Verna May Linzey, which garnered a Gold Record Award for Best Vocals in Southern Gospel Music from the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, in 2016. In 2019, Dr. Linzey wrote "Creator of the Universe" (The United States Space Force Hymn).
