Foundation Objects to Misleading Coverage

MONTGOMERY, Ala., May 10, 2016 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Foundation for Moral Law, a Montgomery-based legal foundation dedicated to strict construction of the Constitution according to the intent of its Framers, denounced as erroneous media claims that the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission (JIC) charged Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore were in any way related to the Foundation.
Foundation Senior Counsel John Eidsmoe noted that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) had filed numerous complaints against the Chief Justice, including at least one concerning the Foundation. However, Eidsmoe said, the six charges filed against the Chief Justice do not even mention the Foundation. All six charges relate to the Chief Justice's actions in Ex parte State of Alabama ex rel. Alabama Policy Institute et al., in which the Alabama Supreme Court ordered the State's probate judges to follow the Alabama Constitution rather than the order of a federal judge in regard to the issuance of license for same-sex marriages. None relate to the Foundation.
In Eidsmoe's words, "To avoid confusion, the media should carefully distinguish the SPLC's complaints from the JIC's actual charges, and even the JIC's charges are only that -- charges."

That's why the people of Alabama have twice elected Roy Moore to be their Chief Justice. It is regrettable that the advocates of federal supremacy want to silence their opponents by removing them from office, effectively nullifying the voice of the people."
