LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 /Standard Newswire/ -- Inspired by the film’s themes of hope, courage and empowerment, The Arrow Project – a nationwide, non-profit foster care organization – has been sponsoring private screenings of Gener8Xion Entertainment’s "One Night with the King," the sweeping adaptation of the Old Testament Book of Esther, for 11,000 at-risk and foster care children and their families.
On the Saturday mornings of Oct. 14, 21 and 28, special screenings took place in cities across Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts, Georgia, North Carolina, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and Maryland.
“The story of Esther is the perfect book of the Bible for giving hope to orphans and at-risk youth,” says Mark Tennant, founder and CEO of The Arrow Project. “This is a wonderful opportunity to share a movie of such inspiration. We are grateful to Gener8Xion…for seeing the movie as a tool to impact today’s youth.”
Dubbed “The Hadassah Project” after the Biblical Esther’s true name, the initiative was designed to create a sense of hope and inspiration for foster children in an unconventional and experiential way. The movie’s message was a natural fit for The Arrow Project.
“'One Night With The King' is a story of divine destiny,” explains the film’s producer Matthew Crouch, chairman and CEO of Gener8Xion Entertainment. “Hadassah was a poor, unknown Jewish peasant girl, an orphan, an outcast from a distant land, who went on to become queen of a powerful empire. Her poignant story proves that anyone, no matter their circumstances, can make an impact on their world.”
The independently produced and distributed film, which chronicles the life of one of the Bible’s most beloved and courageous heroes, surprised experts by opening nationwide on Oct. 13th at No. 9, the only non-studio film in the top 10.
"One Night With The King" has been endorsed by the American Bible Society as a film that is consistent with scripture and embraces faith and values.
The film was produced by Matthew and Laurie Crouch, Richard J. Cook, Lawrence Mortorff and Stephan Blinn – who also wrote the screenplay based on the best-selling novelization “Hadassah: One Night With The King” by Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olsen. Directed by Michael Sajbel, the dramatic big-screen adaptation stars silver screen legends Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif, along with the renowned John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings trilogy), Luke Goss (Blade II, ZigZag), John Noble (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King), Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister (Next Friday), James Callis (Bridget Jones Diary, Battlestar Galactica), Jonah Lotan (24, The Jacket) and Hollywood newcomer Tiffany Dupont. "One Night With The King" is rated PG and runs 121 minutes.
