RICHMOND, Va., April 27, 2022 /Standard Newswire/ -- The 39th Annual Virginia Homeschool Convention returns for in-person attendance after hosting the event virtually in 2020 and 2021. One of the nation's largest homeschool events, this year's three-day convention will feature Creation Museum founder and author Ken Ham; Celebrate Kids, Inc. founder and author Dr. Kathy Koch; and president of Walk Thru Bible, Phil Tuttle, among many other featured speakers.

Happening June 9, 10, and 11 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, the Virginia Homeschool Convention will offer hands-on workshops and presentations for registered attendees as well as free workshops that do not require pre-registration. Free public workshops include "How-To-Begin Homeschooling" on Thursday, June 9, from noon to 5 p.m. A Spanish-language workshop will be included, with Spanish-speaking guides onsite. Participants of the free workshops may stay for shopping opportunities that will offer materials for homeschooling families, including books, curricula, games, puzzles, kits, and hands-on activities for students of all ages.

"We've never lived through a pandemic before, but we know firsthand the excitement and doubts that come with beginning a homeschool journey. This is why we put together three days packed with learning, inspiration, new and used curricula and resources, hands-on fun, connection, information, and some of the best speakers in the country," says Anne Miller, president of Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV).

First-time parents of preschoolers aged four and under may attend all convention activities and events at no cost (with online pre-registration).

On June 9, the convention will also feature an all-day special needs conference—included with convention registration—with its own breakout workshop sessions, resource fair, roundtable discussions, and keynote speaker.

"Our research shows that 60% of homeschooling parents have at least one child with a special need. Our special needs conference will provide support, resources, and information provided by homeschool parents who have walked this path! We are pleased to make this conference free with convention registration," says Maureen Bittner, Director of Publications and Marketing (HEAV).

The convention also features programs for children and teens, career resources for college students, and workshops for parents. Non-homeschooling grandparents, as well as first-time pastors and non-homeschooling pastors, receive free registration.

Registration is open thru May 20, 2022, at heav.org/convention.
