Black Leaders Repudiated for Equating 'Jena 6 Thugs' to Rosa Parks

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 /Standard Newswire/ -- "Liberal black leaders are attempting to recreate the civil rights movement by equating the 'Jena 6 thugs' to Rosa Parks," said conservative author and talk radio host Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson. House Democrats held a hearing this week on the 'Jena 6' case of six black students charged in the unprovoked beating of a white classmate. The case garnered national attention partly because a noose was found hanging on school grounds several months prior. House Democrats and black activists blamed the Bush Justice Department's "inaction" for additional copycat noose hangings reported since the Jena incident. They also called for new 'hate crime' laws. The hearing chaired by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., was loud and unruly. Rev. Peterson denounced the hearing as a "disgrace."

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, said to Donald Washington, the U.S. attorney for Louisiana's western district. "Shame on you…why didn't you intervene?" She asked repeatedly, raising her voice and pointing her finger as the blacks in the audience applauded loudly.

"This hearing was an absolute disgrace," said Rev. Peterson. "The same race hustlers who created this racially divisive atmosphere are now going to write laws to fix the problem? Shame on John Conyers and the Republican members for allowing this circus to continue. Black Democrats have no answers for the serious social issues destroying black Americans. They're only interested in holding on to political power. This is why they're defending the 'Jena 6 thugs'—and trying to fabricate a racial crisis. Whites need to speak up and stop giving into these race hustlers' demands."

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., called on the committee to subpoena Reed Walters, the D.A. in this case. Al Sharpton also called on lawmakers to expand hate crime laws and to make hanging a noose a federal 'hate crime'--even for juveniles. "The attack on Justin Barker (white victim of the 'Jena 6' beating) is the real hate crime--so who's representing his interest?" asked Rev. Peterson. "We need to expose the racial double standard of these false black leaders in order to stop them from destroying this country."
