Haiti-based LiveBeyond Providing Post-Hurricane Relief, Requests Food Assistance

NASHVILLE, Oct. 5, 2016 /Standard Newswire/ -- With Haiti already a food-poor area, Hurricane Matthew has devastated the nation's limited agricultural infrastructure, laying waste to crops in the field and family gardens – the main sources of food and livelihood for people in the region. Food distribution channels have also been disrupted with flooding making roads impassable, as well as ongoing fuel scarcity. For this reason, local humanitarian organization LiveBeyond is stepping in to distribute imported food to those in immediate need, but expects widespread hunger to be an issue for weeks and months to come. LiveBeyond also provides clean water and medical care to the region around its clinic in Thomazeau, Haiti, and is working quickly to get clean water to those whose wells have flooded.
