THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Sept. 20, 2018 /Standard Newswire/ -- According to a recent article by The Online Learning Consortium, over 6 million students are now participating in online learning. "While once considered an avenue of last resort, online learning has come to gain acceptance by most major colleges and universities as part of their acceptance criteria," comments Stevi Jones, Director of Online Academy, at Hillcrest Christian School in Thousand Oaks.
According to Jones, this technology enables HCS's online academy to expand academic options for brick and mortar students, serve homeschoolers with supplemental curriculum and offer remote full-time online students the opportunity to earn a diploma from an accredited school from anywhere.
"Our school is dedicated to serving the Christian community by providing high quality Christian education. As such, our online curriculum offers biblically-based instruction that meets and exceeds all U.S. standards and recommendations," notes Jones. She adds that courses are taught by credentialed teachers who provide "regular support, instruction and Christ-like interaction with students in each course."
Hillcrest Christian Online Academy offers an expansive catalog of self-paced online courses for 6-12th graders to pursue their academic interests. These self-paced courses will give students the flexibility to pursue extracurricular interests and complete coursework outside of standard school hours and days. Representing the highest of academic standards, many of the courses are also UC and NCAA approved, states Jones.
Some of the online courses available are:
- Language: German, Latin, Chinese, Spanish and French
- Test Preparation: SAT and ACT prep
- Advanced Placement Courses: all subjects
- Electives: Digital Photography, Game Design 1, Programming
- Bible: Understanding the Times, Apologetics, Biblical Truth & Worldview
"We are excited to usher in a high-tech era in education that will allow families and students of all backgrounds to participate in a discipleship school with ease and flexibility" adds Principal Penny Hawkins. Enrollment is open year-round and can be accessed wherever wifi connectivity is available.
