CENTER, Texas, Sept. 15, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — Unity Press today announced the launch of its new Faith & Purpose Interview Series, highlighting ministry leaders and their perspectives on calling, perseverance, and spiritual growth. The first feature spotlights Jerry Lewis of Center, TX, a ministry leader recognized for his work in church cultivation and missionary support.
The series seeks to provide insight into how faith shapes leadership and service in today’s world. Lewis emphasizes the importance of living with purpose rooted in Christ, a theme he believes applies to both pastors and everyday believers.
“Your heart won’t be fulfilled unless you are fulfilling your purpose,” Lewis said. “Purpose doesn’t need a paycheck. It doesn’t chase validation. It endures through perseverance, and it is always rooted in Christ.”
Career vs. Calling
In the interview, Lewis distinguishes between career and calling in pastoral ministry. Citing Jeremiah 20:9, he explains that God’s calling is a consuming fire that cannot be ignored, while a career may be chosen and left at will.“A career pastor will sacrifice the church for himself,” Lewis said. “A called pastor will sacrifice himself for the church.”
Knowing God, Not Just Knowing About Him
Lewis further highlights the difference between knowledge and intimacy with God, drawing from John 10:14: “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” He stresses that effective ministry is grounded not just in biblical knowledge but in a living relationship with the One who wrote it.
A Call to All Believers
While much of his message addresses pastors, Lewis emphasizes that purpose extends to every believer. Quoting Philippians 3:14, he reminds readers that pursuing Christ is central to fulfillment and perseverance. “Your past is not your present, but your present will determine how your past is remembered,” Lewis said. “If you want your life to count, don’t chase a career or applause. Pursue your purpose. Pursue Christ.”
