WEST BANK, March 26, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Israeli settlers have reportedly stormed the predominantly Christian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank, entering the village quarry, erecting a tent, raising an Israeli flag, and declaring their intent to remain while claiming ownership of the land, according to eyewitness accounts and local reports.
Witnesses say settlers prevented Palestinian workers from accessing the quarry and carrying out their jobs, effectively disrupting livelihoods and escalating tensions within the community. The incident marks a significant intensification of pressure on Taybeh, a historic Christian village that has faced increasing restrictions and harassment in recent months.
The Vulnerable People Project (VPP) strongly condemns the seizure of land and obstruction of workers and calls on authorities to immediately remove the settlers, restore access to the quarry, and ensure the protection of Taybeh’s residents.
“This is a direct assault on a peaceful Christian community and their ability to live and work on their own land,” said Jason Jones, founder of the Vulnerable People Project. “When settlers can enter a village, seize property, and block livelihoods without consequence, it erodes the most basic principles of justice. The international community must act now to protect Taybeh and hold those responsible accountable.”
Local Christian leaders have issued urgent appeals for intervention, warning that the presence of settlers inside the village and at a key economic site poses a direct threat to the safety, stability, and future of the community. Residents report a growing pattern of daily intimidation and encroachment that has left families fearing further escalation.
Human rights advocates warn that such actions contribute to the ongoing displacement of vulnerable communities and undermine stability in the region. Advocacy groups continue to urge international leaders to intervene to protect civilians and uphold international humanitarian standards.
