LAS VEGAS, Sept. 30, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — Leon Patillo, former lead vocalist of the Grammy Award winning band Santana and a Dove Award–winning pioneer of contemporary Christian music, has released a new book, All In: The Preacher and the Poker Player. Inspired by true events, the book interweaves Patillo’s real-life love story with his wife, Renee, a professional poker player, and the heartbreaking struggles of a 14-year-old girl named Sue who endures relentless bullying that pushes her toward suicide.
According to the CDC, suicide is now the second leading cause of death among individuals ages 10 to 24. Having personally endured severe bullying and losing his cousin Jonathan to its devastating effects, Patillo is committed to raising awareness about this urgent crisis.
In tandem with the book, a feature film titled All In: Santana to Hosanna is in development. The motion picture will chronicle Patillo’s journey from international fame with Santana to his groundbreaking ministry career, highlighting his time under the mentorship of Calvary Chapel founder, Pastor Chuck Smith. The project will also parallel Sue’s story, shining a raw light on the dangers of bullying while offering a message of hope and redemption through Christ.
“More young people die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, and chronic lung disease combined—a heartbreaking truth that cannot be ignored,” said Paul Lodato, Executive Director of CTN Studios. “Every pastor, educator, counselor, mental health professional, and policymaker should read All In and use it as a resource. And Santana to Hosanna is raw, redemptive, and relevant—a motion picture waiting to happen.”
Patillo believes both the book (available on Amazon) and the upcoming film can save lives by pointing to the ultimate source of hope: Jesus Christ.
