WASHINGTON, Jan. 26, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Faith leaders are calling for the Trump Administration to de-escalate the situation in Minneapolis and immediately pause ICE activities for the next two weeks. The faith leaders are also asking that ICE activities immediately focus on hardened criminals as well as updating training and protocols with agents currently on the streets.
After the tragic shooting deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good along with continued violence and unrest in Minneapolis, it is critical for both federal and state government officials to come together and find a way forward to bring peace to the region. Our political leaders, on both sides of the aisle, must tone down the inflammatory rhetoric that fuels community tension and rage. Faith leaders insist the Trump Administration commit to a public and fully transparent investigation into the shooting deaths.
We are also calling for pastors, churches and Christians across America to spend the next two weeks in dedicated prayer for God to bring healing and peace to Minneapolis and our nation.
In a joint statement, Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, and Alexei Laushkin, Founder of Kingdom Mission Society, state:
“We call for the Trump Administration to deescalate the situation in Minneapolis and immediately pause ICE activities for the next two weeks.
“After the tragic shooting deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, along with continued violence and unrest in Minneapolis, it is critical for both federal and state government officials to come together and find a way forward to bring peace to the region.
“Our political leaders, on both sides of the aisle, must tone down the inflammatory rhetoric that fuels community tension and rage and demonstrate a commitment to unity and civility.
“It is also essential the Trump Administration commit to a public and fully transparent investigation into the shooting deaths.
“Finally, we recognize that only God can bring healing and hope to our nation. In light of that, we are calling for pastors, churches and Christians across America to spend the next two weeks in dedicated prayer for God to bring healing and peace to Minneapolis and our nation.”
