WASHINGTON, March 16, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ —  The Christian Defense Coalition calls for President Trump to proclaim a “National Day of Prayer,” seeking God’s guidance and leading in Operation Epic Fury.

The group asks for President Trump to model the prayer after President George Bush’s, “Proclamation 6243—For a National Day of Prayer, February 3, 1991” regarding Operation Desert Storm. Part of that prayer included:

“I ask that prayer be made for American military commanders in the region and for the forces of other nations that have joined in the coalition to liberate Kuwait. I also urge the American people and their elected representatives to give thanks to God for His mercy and goodness and humbly to ask for His continued help and guidance in all our endeavors. Let us pray this day, and every day hereafter, for peace. And may God keep this country as one great Nation under Him forever.”

In times of great challenge and crisis, America’s Presidents have called the nation to seek God for guidance, blessing, protection and direction.

Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Washington, DC based Christian Defense Coalition, states:

“Throughout history, American Presidents and national leaders have issued national prayer proclamations asking our nation to seek God for guidance, protection, blessing and direction in times of crisis and challenge.

“The Continental Congress called for prayer in 1775 to forge a new nation. George Washington issued Thanksgiving proclamations in 1789 and 1795, and John Adams proclaimed days of humiliation and prayer in 1799.

“President Abraham Lincoln issued a profound call for a National Day of Humiliation, fasting, and prayer on March 30, 1863, amid the Civil War, emphasizing repentance. Franklin D. Roosevelt led the nation in a radio prayer during the D-Day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 and George W. Bush called for national prayer after 9/11.

“Collective national prayer unites, sustains and inspires our nation and through prayer we can see God shape and transform history. It also reminds us America’s strength and power does not come from the might of our military but from a Sovereign God.

“Therefore, we respectfully call upon President Trump to follow in the footsteps of past American Presidents, and call for National Day of Prayer asking God for guidance, direction and wisdom during Operation Epic Fury.”
