WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — Is the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement delivering on its promises? What gains has it achieved and where is it falling short? Those questions and more are raised by CatholicVote in a special edition of its popular LOOP daily email news digest, which also debuts a documentary on the state of Americans’ health produced and hosted by CatholicVote Senior Advisor Steve Cortes.
“Catholics should care deeply about the MAHA movement,” said CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt.
“On the plus side, MAHA recognizes that a healthy America is not the prime motivator for the profit-driven pharmaceutical and food industries. Under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is enacting bold initiatives to make things better, like getting harmful dyes out of our food,” she said. “But we also have to hold MAHA accountable. It has stumbled badly with approval of generic mifepristone and we cannot ignore its misguided decision to cast IVF as ‘pro-life’ when it sacrifices human life in the process. MAHA must turn toward rapid approval of genuinely life-giving therapies and clean food systems with the same urgency it used to fast-track abortion drugs. The next test is coming quickly: new federal dietary guidelines.”
In his 30-minute documentary, Steve Cortes looks at why life expectancy in the U.S. is at a 20-year low and what can be done to reverse the trend. “We must break the cycle of chemical food and managed sickness, and end the perverse incentives that make sickness so profitable. That is the only way to raise up a generation of stronger, happier, and healthier Americans.”
In addition to the pros and cons of recent HHS initiatives, this special LOOP MAHA edition looks at efforts to make baby formula healthy again and the powerful role mothers are playing in the MAHA movement. CatholicVote will continue to monitor MAHA’s progress and update viewers via its multiple platforms, including the LOOP, its Spanish-language version, EL LAZO, the CatholicVote.org and VotoCatolico.org websites, and various social media sites.
