WASHINGTON., Jan. 22, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Pro-life activists and leaders from across America will gather today, Jan. 22, 2026, outside the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) headquarters (200 Independence Ave SW) at 8:30 AM to call on HHS and the Trump administration to ban the abortion pill. A peaceful direct action will take place after the statements. Multiple arrests are expected.
Since the Biden administration’s initial deregulation of the abortion pill in 2020, the abortion rate has skyrocketed from 630,000 annually in 2019 to over 1.14 million in 2024. President Trump assumed office in 2025, but the administration has not reinstated previous regulations, including ensuring in-person visits with doctors to limit the potential for patient harm.
Sadly, the Trump/Vance administration has instead signaled they support abortion-inducing drugs, through statements (see video below) made by Vice President JD Vance, and the FDA’s recent approval of a generic version of the drug.
Despite his statements in support for mifepristone’s accessibility, this week, Vance is headlining the National March for Life in Washington D.C. Pro-life activists are hoping to send Vance, RFK, and Trump a clear message: Ban the abortion pill.
Several Trump Pardonees will be present.
Activists rallied on Wednesday 1/21 7:30pm at Church of the Holy Comforter St. Cyprian (1357 East Capitol Street SE) the night before the action. Press is welcome.
Thursday morning, at 8:30 AM, activists will gather at HHS headquarters at (200 Independence Ave SW).
Speakers will make brief comments – roughly 30 – 45 seconds each regarding the abortion pill, and the need to ban it.
